What do you feel when you see your country win a gold medal in the Olympics or lift a World Cup trophy? It’s one of the proudest moments that we citizens will have, isn’t it? But have you ever thought about what we can do to contribute to this victory for our country? It’s simple; let’s start by making a simple correction to this sentence: “Sports is an extracurricular activity “. Now let’s change that and rewrite it in our schools and in our minds like this: “Sports is not just an extracurricular activity”. Because, as we all know, sport is never additional but essential.
For years, sports were just viewed as a pastime that students engaged in outside of their academic pursuits. There is nothing beyond that. But this system can make us lose talented and skilled children who, given proper training, can one day bring many glories and milestones to our nation. But unfortunately, these talents are never properly encouraged or brought up in their mastery. As a result, all these young athletes and the dreams they have seen end up as dust-filled medals or trophies in their home showcases. They are never given a chance to mould their skills and conquer the heights they can. Don’t you think we have to change this? Let’s encourage and promote sports and games in our schools today to create a glorious future tomorrow.
Sport brings great benefits to students. As we can see, every child participating in sports develops a variety of skills and qualities that can positively impact their lives both on and off the field.
One of the primary benefits of sports is physical fitness. Playing sports can help children stay active and healthy, reducing the risk of developing health conditions in the future such as obesity, diabetes, and heart disease.
Your kids can also develop coordination, balance, and agility through different sports and games, which can benefit them in their daily lives.
Let our children learn important life skills such as teamwork, communication, and leadership by practising sports. In team sports, players learn to work together towards a common goal and must communicate effectively in order to do so. These skills can then be applied in the workplace and other areas of life, helping individuals become better collaborators and leaders.
In conclusion, sports are much more than just a recreational activity. They provide numerous physical, emotional, and social benefits that can have a lasting impact on individuals’ lives. Whether through team sports or individual pursuits, sports offer a valuable opportunity for personal growth and community development. Sport is not just something that is additional; it is something that is essential. As Nelson Mandela said, “Sports have the power to change the world.” Let’s make meaningful changes in the world through sports.
